We present a single-channel 1-Tb/s transmission system based exclusively on semiconductor pulse sources. By using alternating polarization RZ-DQPSK modulation a record transmission length of 480-km dispersion managed fiber is achieved.
We present a 53.5 GHz monolithic pulse source, applied as transmitter in a single-channel, 107 Gb/s RZ-DQPSK system with 100 GHz filtering. Error-free transmission over 480 km was demonstrated.
We report on 107 Gb/s transmission using an integrated ETDM receiver, which comprises 1:2-demultiplexing and clock & data recovery on a single chip. The ETDM receiver was tested successfully in a transmission experiment over 480 km dispersion managed fiber and in a 160 km full ETDM field trial.
The advantages of using RZ-DPSK in combination with advanced forward error correction are shown in an OTDM-transmission experiment of a single-polarization 160 Gbit/s signal over 3 times 160 km dispersion managed fiber.
