Eurocode regulations and identical Polish standard [1] differ in several points from the rules which previously were used in Poland, as in the standard from year 2002, which is still used. In addition to simple differences, consisting in the use of different factors and limits, there are deeper differences – concerning the basic problems affecting the design of prestressed structures, especially the level of cracking considered as acceptable. So it is worth to examine these differences, especially problems related to the examination of the tensile stresses in concrete in initial state and with the requirements in the tension zone in the permanent situation. Some of the recommendations of Eurocode are not quite clear. The authors believe that they were able to explain some of these uncertainties and present the related issues in a satisfactory form.
