The article deals with the implementation of the post-colonial complex of the Ukrainians in the postmodern cultural and linguistic context. The postcolonial complex is defined as a tactic of the populist text-building strategy based on the preservation and resuscitation of specific Ukrainian vocabulary and the sacralization of certain topics and language taboos as well as restrained attitude to gender.
