Due to its simple structure and lower price, the resistive type superconducting fault current limiter (RSFCL) is being used widely in practical experiences. As RSFCL needs considerable time to return from the normal zone to the superconducting zone after the fault clearance, operating in normal zone may create some problems. Since the number of faults on distribution systems is much more than the number of faults in other parts of the network and most of the faults have transient nature, these problem may be more serious for distribution systems. In this paper, operation in the normal zone is taken under scrutiny and optimum dimension design is introduced to eliminate this zone of RSFCL operation.
