MAESTRO is a project of the European Ambient Assisted Living Programme which aims at enhancing the quality of life and whenever possible the autonomy of seniors. The project objective is to develop a web-based ICT platform that will enable any user, either customer, producer or prescribing party of self monitoring devices, the possibility to evaluate their relevance, effectiveness and performance. The aim is to build a reference framework, to bring orientation and evaluation based on users profile, interests, evolving usage profile, which are rarely evaluated or documented. Different level of assessment criteria and related indicators will be identified starting from enhancement of self management and autonomy, increase of quality of life for seniors and their carers, continuous support and coaching towards prevention and wellbeing and cost effectiveness. This paper presents the methodological framework which will enable the construction and operationalization of MAESTRO's platform including its key characteristics and phases, based upon the users' requirements and needs analysis which have been evaluated by the project partners during a first phase of the project.
