This project has been oriented to the development of an energy system unit for powering tramways during shorts periods of time. The aim of this work is to present the results obtained for a high frequency DC-DC converter which is included in the energy unit. The energy unit will consist on two type of energy storage devices: a battery stack and a supercapacitor stack. A comparison of the simulated...
Means of testing the integral nonlinearity (INL) of A/D converters (ADCs) without an accurate test stimulus have recently been proposed. These methods are based on a constant DC offset between two low-quality test signals. We describe here an on-chip offset generator and analyse its limitations. Experimental tests show that it can be used to test the INL of 12-b ADCs.
LED has been applied in many aspects in daily life because of its advantages, and this trend will go on. Therefore, the research and design of the LED lighting driver becomes popular. In this article, system level design of a LED lighting driver based on switching power is described. The chip is designed with hysteretic control mode, and the peripheral circuit topology structure is buck converter...
Analysis of transient behavior is important for class E amplifier because high peak switch voltage may be imposed to the transistor in the transient response. However, transient behavior of class E amplifier due to load variation was not analyzed yet. In this paper, transient behavior of a class E amplifier due to load variation is simulated with PSPICE. As a result, it is found that a high transient...
Tungsten trioxide (WO3) thin films with Pt and Cu electrodes are characterized regarding the suitability for nonvolatile memory applications. Cells down to 70 ?? 70 nm2 are fabricated by a combination of e-beam and nanoimprint lithography. The electrical measurements reveal good properties with switching currents of only 500 nA, fast SET and RESET switching down to 5 ns and retention for 104 s with...
In recent years, many researchers have proposed the usage of molecular scale devices exhibiting negative differential resistance (NDR) in the realization of programmable logic circuitry. This paper deals with the utilization of one such system built from NDR based circuitry, specifically the Goto pair, in the implementation of a programmable threshold logic array (PTLA). Furthermore, the PTLA considered...
In this paper, we investigate the effect of the reset-pulse parameters of a phase-change memory line cell on the electrical cell properties. By means of electrothermal finite-element simulations and measurements, the characteristics of the reset state (resistance after switching, threshold voltage, and stability of the state) are related to the physical parameters during reset switching (the temporal...
With the wide use of extra high voltage gas insulated substation (GIS), very fast transient over-voltage (VFTO) generated by switching operations threatens the insulation of some equipments even the security of power system. For a 500 kV GIS, the model has been built up and the parameters have been selected in this paper. The variations of VFTO magnitudes along the GIS bus nodes during different switching...
SRM is suitable to be used as drivers of electric bicycle (E-bike). A nonlinear dynamics model based on Matlab/Simulink of E-bike and four regenerative braking strategies of SRM are presented in this paper, such as most feedback power control strategy, most feedback efficiency control, fixed torque control, fixed feedback current control. A hybrid control strategy of PWM mode and current chopping...
IGBT is one of the key components of motor driving system for electric vehicles, and its reliability directly affects the reliability of the electric vehicles. The reliability of the IGBT is affected by the loss and the junction temperature in working condition. To predict the IGBTpsilas loss and thermal response, especially in the case of adverse dynamic conditions, the dynamic loss model and the...
There are demands for very large KVA switched reluctance drives (SRD) for many applications. However, one of the key issues is to ensure that the current and voltage capabilities of IGBTs are enough to safely transfer the power from the supply to the SRM. This paper extends the snubber topology of full bridge circuit to the asymmetric bridge circuit of SRDs, proposes and evaluates three different...
