In this study, the temperature characteristics of a one-stage and a two-stage structure of Peltier devices were measured. We identified that the two-stage structure was able to suppress the temperature rise at the endothermic end. A temperature difference was established based on the charge transfer in semiconductors, with respect to both Joule heating and thermal conductivity.
The majority of work carried out around battery models is partly motivated by vehicle simulation. Specifically for electric vehicle simulation, some characteristics of the battery require more attention while others can be simplified, thus distinguishing dynamic models for battery system simulation slightly and requiring different tools. In this paper, we propose a dynamic battery model that accounts...
In this paper a non-linear second order circuit model of high temperature Sodium-Nickel Chloride batteries (SNBs) is presented. The aim is the development of an accurate model easily implementable in microgrids Energy Management System and suitable for their real-time control. The proposed model is based on the analysis of the experimental performance of a commercial 23.5 kWh SNB. In particular, the...
A multi-physics model is developed based on P2D model, including the electrochemical part, thermal part and the temperature distribution. It can simulate the physical and chemical phenomena from the scale of the active particles to the scale of whole battery. The charging optimization is also investigated, two internal characteristics, which can only be calculated by the proposed model, are treated...
A special round robin (RR) algorithm has been developed to equalize nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery packs using a new selective equalizer. This algorithm detects batteries either at a very low state of charge (SOC) or at an extremely high SOC. In this system, a set of electromechanical relays are connected in a matrix to route boost current to the weaker batteries. The relay switching is controlled...
Sealed Ni-Cd batteries have been widely used because of their excellent performance. And many fast charge system have been investigated and applied. The most popular fast-charge system is a voltage-controlled type. However the circuit is very complicated and costly. We have developed a new temperature controlled fast-charge system which are comprized of a new battery and a simple external circuit...
The current intensive effort on fuel cell research and development is justified by the potential uses and advantages. Many industrial laboratories are investigating some form of mobile power in which high efficiency, low manufacturing cost, and low maintenance are the most important factors. Another potential large application for fuel cells and the one that is receiving the most attention at this...
