We present two geometric routing algorithms that reliably deliver messages to all devices in a geocast region. One algorithm is based on flooding, the other on concurrent geometric routing. They are the fist known stateless geocasting algorithms. We formally prove the algorithms correct, evaluate their performance through abstract and concrete simulation and estimate their message complexity.
Performance of a multicomputer largely depends on that of the underlying network communications such as multicast, which is essential for processors in multcomputer to exchange data and messages. Two major parameters used to evaluate multicast routing are the time it takes to deliver the message to all destinations and the traffic which refers to the total number of links involved. Direct network...
In a wireless sensor network nodes probe ambient conditions and send the measurements over multi-hop routes to a base-station. The base-station aggregates the received reports, and based on the findings it orchestrates a response either autonomously or through consultation with a remote commend center. Thus, the role of the base-station is so crucial that the network can be non-functional and/or isolated...
Taking into account inter-task dependency in reconfigurable computing systems, a step closer to reality, can interfere with placement algorithm and it highly affects on hardware resource utilization. In this paper a tree based placement algorithm is proposed that its specifications are efficiency and low execution time. The main feature of this placement algorithm is that it is easy and simple to...
This paper proposes a simple and effective algorithm to improve the quality of service on the Internet by providing alternate path between source and destination nodes when the delay or packet loss rate on the primary path becomes unacceptable. We combine Source Routing with an Intermediate Node forwarding mechanism to yield a multipath routing mechanism called SIR (Source Intermediate Routing). It...
In this research we present a simulation-based approach to study alternative dynamic assignment policies in an information technology (IT) service delivery environment. Our overarching goal is to find the most cost-effective assignment of service requests to cross-trained agents in a large-scale network. We present a novel heuristic algorithm that assigns an analytically described allocation index...
With the deployment of sensor network applications there is lot of breakthrough in digital or smart sensor designs. These smart sensors have a dedicated processor which allows interfacing to many sensors which measure ambient readings of temperature, pressure and humidity of the environment. These sensors once calibrated they function independently running using a self-powered battery which operates...
Networks on chips (NoCs) provide a mechanism for handling complex communications in the next generation of integrated circuits. At the same time, lower yield in nano-technology, makes self repair communication channels a necessity in design of digital systems. This paper proposes a reliable NoC architecture based on specific application mapped onto an NoC. This architecture is capable of recovering...
In this paper we propose a set of different configurations of failure recovery schemes, developed for network-on-chip (NoC) based systems. These configurations exploit the fact that communication in NoCs tends to be partitioned and eventually localized. The failure recovery approach is based on checkpoint and rollback and is aimed towards fast recovery from system or application level failures. The...
Three applications in wireless networks where model-free stochastic learning is applicable, are discussed. The learning based optimization problems are formulated and simulation results are presented. Some open issues are also discussed.
