In this paper, we present Intercom, a simulator framework that provides separate components to address the interdependent aspects of IoT systems, such as sensing, physical interaction, wireless communication, and computation. We initially evaluate a scalable sensing and communication model, which simulates wireless signal strength measurements with an average error of 6.1dBm.
Time-of-arrival (TOA) is a range-based positioning method with high positioning precision. However, TOA-based methods require strict time synchronization between nodes, which puts forward high requirements on the hardware and power consumption of sensor nodes. For the high cost hardware problem of TOA-based methods, we propose a TOA-based iterative algorithm (iTOA) that can be applied to the wireless...
The multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system can be considered a solution which is efficient for the wireless communication requiring high speed. But due to dealay spread in non-flat fading channels abrupt the functioning of MIMO system. The impulse response of the channel in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), is flat in each sub carrier. Hence, MIMO with OFDM can be used effectively...
The paper presents an algorithm for localization of endoscopic capsules inside the human body. The goal is to determine the position of capsules by measuring the power of received electromagnetic signal on the human skin taking into account losses within the body. The algorithm was first developed and simulated in MATLAB. Simulation results prove its high accuracy and indicate the optimal antenna...
Hardware impairments of physical transceivers that create distortions degrade the performance of communication. This paper analyzes the performance with different relay selections which include partial relay selection and opportunistic relay selection in amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative network with hardware impairments. Partial relay selection is that the relay node is selected depending on the...
Abstract-Wireless network Simulation is challenging due to the effect of the dynamic and fading channel. The task is even more challenging in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), adding the factor of energy source limitation. Validating simulation results with real implementation are still an unresolved question in wireless research in general and in particular WSN. There are few standard procedures to...
This paper introduces the integration of communication modelling into design modelling during the early stages of system development. It presents the modelling of flocking behaviour system in SystemC, which is emerging as a suitable language for designing and modelling. SystemC provides a consistent methodology for the design and refinement of complex digital systems. In this paper, a demonstrator...
Recent developments in microcontroller, radio transceiver, and energy harvesting device design now permit wireless sensor nodes to operate indefinitely from power scavenged from their environment. Many algorithms for conventional sensor networks assume that nodes run directly from non-rechargeable batteries and therefore attempt to conserve energy rather than carefully exploiting it when available...
