Texture-based automatic face recognition (AFR) methods find global similarities between two faces by computing their local regional similarities. A novel method based on Fisher discriminant analysis is proposed to estimate each region's contribution to the global similarity score. Experimental results show that the method considerably improves recognition performance for texture-based AFR.
Signature verification is one of the central issues in our everyday life, especially in financial administration. Signature verification (SV) systems have been founded on human biometric features which are different from person to person. A desperate trouble with signatures is the mismatch between original signatures generated by an individual. In this paper, the existing methods dealing with these...
Most practical steganographic algorithms for empirical covers embed messages by minimizing a sum of per-pixel distortions. Current near-optimal codes for this minimization problem are limited to a binary embedding operation. In this paper, we extend this work to embedding operations of larger cardinality. The need for embedding changes of larger amplitude and the merit of this construction are confirmed...
Super-resolution is very important in recognizing suspects face in video surveillance system. In this paper, we present an improvement of image super-resolution based on sparse signal representation. The issue of how to deal efficiently with sparse feature has great significance on the quality improvement of generated high resolution image. We propose to use Elastic net to solve sparse representation...
In this paper we evaluate the use of Restricted Bolzmann Machines (RBM) in the context of learning and recognizing human actions. The features used as basis are binary silhouettes of persons. We test the proposed approach on two datasets of human actions where binary silhouettes are available: ViHASi (synthetic data) and Weizmann (real data). In addition, on Weizmann dataset, we combine features based...
Personal identification based on finger vein patterns is a newly developed biometrics technique and several practical systems have been deployed recent years. We developed a finger vein verification system for checking attendance and have collected a database of 0.8 million finger vein samples. Based on the database, we proposed a person retrieval solution for searching an image in the database and...
Because of its robustness, user friendliness, low cost and high accuracy, palmprint recognition has been widely studied in the past ten years. Various feature extraction and matching schemes have been proposed, among which the Gabor phase and orientation codes are very effective and efficient for palmprint representation and matching. Although these methods are adopted in the online palmprint recognition...
Palm lines are the most important features for palmprint recognition. They are best considered as typical multiscale features, where the principal lines can be represented at a larger scale while the wrinkles at a smaller scale. Motivated by the success of coding-based palmprint recognition methods, this paper investigates a compact representation of multiscale palm line orientation features, and...
As 2D bar code Aztec Code has a lot of outstanding excellences such as high capacity, high density, strong error-correcting ability and security, it is widely used in online tickets sold. According to the practicability, this paper has designed a system processes Aztec code stretching Distortion. In this paper, the algorithm of 2D bar code is introduced in detail. It can be also used in other similar...
Neighborhood coding was proposed to encode binary images. Previously, this coding scheme presented good results in the problem of handwritten character recognition. In this article, we extended this coding scheme so that it can be applied as an image shape descriptor and in a bilevel image compression method. An algorithm to reduce the number of codes needed to reconstruct the image without loss of...
