Porous Silicon (PS) is one of the established materials and can be used in variety of applications in its different forms. Use of monolayer PS film for synthesis of Si QDs is reported here. Nanometer-sized silicon particles are produced by ultrasonic dispersion of thin films in DI water. PS films are characterized using cross sectional scanning electron microscopy and gravimetric analysis while the...
High dispersion of nanoparticles in transparent polymer matrices is the prerequisite to maintain the transparency of matrices. However, it is hard to fabricate the nancomposites with high visible light transmittance even at low nanoparticle concentrations. In this work, highly transparent Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB)/ZnO nanocomposites were fabricated by using the two-step process. Firstly, the monodispersed...
In this work, we present a systematic investigation of the influence of mixed-phase TiO2 with various a-TiO2 to r-TiO2 ratio (A/R) toward the DSSCs efficiency. It was found that though a-TiO2 showed better performance than r-TiO2 in DSSCs, the Ru-bipyridine dye (N719) sensitized TiO2 films fabricated by mixed-phase TiO2 with A/R = 9 gives the highest cell efficiency.
In the present study, non-stoichiometric tungsten oxide (WO3-x) nanomaterials synthesized by a modified plasma arc gas condensation technique were added into anatase titanium oxide (a-TiO2) which was used as photoanode materials in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC). The WO3-x/a-TiO2 sample was characterized by FESEM, XRD, HRTEM, XPS and UV-visible spectra techniques. The photovoltaic efficiency of...
Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles is an attractive candidate and gain attention for their novel properties and promising applications such as optoelectronic devices by virtue of their high surface to volume ratio and molecular absorption and desorption characteristics. Ultraviolet light emmiters, gas sensor (particularly for hydrogen) etc. are some of the potential applications of this wide direct band...
This paper reports the performance of fluorescence gas sensor to detect the presence of volatile organic compounds. Two thin films were prepared; TiO2 coated with iron (III) meso-tetraphenylporphine chloride (TiO2 coated IMTPPCl) and TiO2 coated with manganase (III) 5,10,15,20 tetra (4-pyridyl)-21 H, 23 H porphine chloride tetrakis (TiO2 coated MnTPCl). All the thin films were deposited on quartz...
Nano-sized powders of transparent conductive aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO) have been successfully prepared by electrolysis-modified co-precipitation method. By adding ammonium hydroxide into the precursor solution prepared by electrolytic dissolution of zinc metal in a buffered electrolyte solution of nitric acid and ammonium nitrate with adequate addition of aluminum nitrate, co-precipitate precursors...
Well aligned Si nanowires (SiNWs) by Vapor-Liquid-Solid growth process are presented. Instead of using H2, the current work uses N2 as carrier gas. The growth conditions of SiNWs are controlled by the ratio of nitrogen versus silane gas. Tapering of nanowires was found at T=620degC and P=333 m torr, and the tapering parameter was reduced by increasing the N2 gas. Tapering of nanowires is attributed...
