This paper proposes a predictive power control for a converter connected to the grid. The power references are sent by a wireless channel with the focus to control renewable sources. The three-phase converter controls the power injected to the grid using a predictive control technique. Simulation results are presented to validate the system operation.
The characteristics of underwater acoustic channel is strong multipath, severe Doppler and limited bandwidth. OFDM modulation has good ability in anti multipath and Turbo Product Codes(TPC) has excellent performance in a high code rate, We make full use of their advantages and designed an OFDM underwater acoustic communication system based on TPC. Using the BELLHOP simulation model to get the approximate...
We present our previous work in [17] in a more generic way to construct q-ary Golay complementary sets and near-complementary sets of size N and sequence length M · Nm by using different seed sequences, where m is an arbitrary non-negative integer, M is the length of seed sequences and N is a power of 2. The boolean functions of these sequences will also be derived with our method. To illustrate it,...
This paper presents pilot symbol aided channel estimation in Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC). FBMC has been employed widespread in communication applications because of its good spectral behaviors. Unlike Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, FBMC structure avoids imaginary interference. So that auxiliary symbols are employed and decrease peak to power ratio and improve achievable capacity....
The radio access technology for railway communications is expected to migrate from GSM for Railways (GSM-R) to a more suitable generation of communication systems for the services offered nowadays, like the fourth generation (4G) or the fifth generation (5G). Recently, considerable attention has been devoted to high-speed trains since this particular environment poses challenging problems in terms...
In recent years, space-time (ST) code has been widely applied in wireless communications. However, due to interference or signal attenuation, the performance may be degraded when the data stream is transmitted through a wireless mobile fading channel. The ST block code is an effective approach, which can provide robustness by increasing the diversity gain. In this paper, five ST-OFDM systems with...
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (OFDM-IM) is a newly proposed technique, which achieves significantly improved performance in comparison with classical OFDM by using the indices of active subcarriers to carry additional information bits. In this paper, we propose two power allocation (PA) algorithms for the sake of further improving the bit error rate (BER) performance...
In this paper, we propose a simple and efficient soft- in soft-out (SISO) equalization for block Markov superposition transmission (BMST) in the coded OFDM system (called BMST-OFDM) over high-mobility wireless communication channels. In the BMST-OFDM system, the proposed SISO equalizer can exchange soft messages with the soft demapper and the BMST decoder in an iterative fashion. Simulation results...
Superior spectral properties of Filter Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC) techniques make them an interesting choice for future wireless systems. In order to directly apply well known pilot-symbol aided channel estimation in FBMC, however, the intrinsic imaginary interference has to be canceled. Such cancellation method is usually designed for a doubly-flat channel. In this paper, we investigate the effects...
With the development of high-speed trains (HST), efficient and reliable communication services in high mobility scenarios have become an urgent demand. As one of the strong candidates in 5G wireless system, polar codes along with its optimized design should also be investigated under high mobility scenarios. In this paper, a scheme of hash-concatenated polar codes is proposed to reduce the false alarm...
Internet of Things is wide focused on academia and industrial applications. Wireless Universal Serial Bus (USB) based on Ultra Wideband (UWB) and Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology is a major research filed of the Internet of Things for extending the wireless link coverage. This paper presents a study of propagation channel and system implementation with low power and cost requirements...
In this paper we propose a novel approach to joint radar-communication waveform design with low probability of intercept characteristics. The data are encoded onto a certain parameter of a particular random distribution; using this distribution, random sequences are generated, which become amplitude weights for the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) sub-carriers. We assume and describe...
Machine-to-machine (M2M) communications play an important role for applications that involve connections between a massive number of heterogeneous devices in home and industrial networks. For M2M networks, realizing low latency and high reliability is of great importance. In this paper, we show the great potential of polar-coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) to fulfill those requirements...
This paper considers a K-user single-input-single-output interference channel with inter-symbol interference (ISI), in which the channel coefficients are assumed to be linear time-invariant with finite-length impulse response. The primary finding of this paper is that, with no channel state information at a transmitter (CSIT), the sum-spectral efficiency can be made to scale linearly with K, provided...
This paper is concerned with practical quantizer design for Compress-and-Forward (CF) in combination with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) in the 3-node relay channel. The Information Bottleneck (IB) method is an appropriate tool for this task as it maximizes relevant information given a specific restriction on the rate. Optimal quantization is not possible due the high complexity...
Orthogonal Frequency division multiplexing is the modulation technique used for the fourth generation wireless communication system. In OFDM, Signals can be modulated by multiple carriers. OFDM uses the bandwidth of the spectrum efficiently. But the limitation of the OFDM system is the high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) which results in the degradation of the signal quality. Hence reducing the...
In this work, we propose a link adaptation scheme called truncated channel inversion (TCI) as an effective power allocation strategy for block adaptive modulation, coding, and spatial mode (AMCS). Since water-filling based power allocation is no longer optimal to minimize bit error rate (BER) in block modulation system, block AMCS is considered as a practical link adaptation scheme. We first investigate...
In this digital age, there has been a surge in the transmission of digital data. This data is not secure and it can be easily intercepted and misused by an eavesdropper. To secure this data, steganography is used. Steganography is the art and science of passing hidden messages in such a way that only sender and the intended receiver can detect the existence of the hidden audio. If the existence of...
In this paper, an efficient approach is proposed to track the double-selected multipath channel for a Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output Orthogonal-Frequency-Division-Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system in the existence of both Gaussian and non-Gaussian noises interfering with reference signals. Using nonlinear complex Multiple Support Vector Machine Regression (M-SVR) methodology, fast-fading multipath channel...
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, together with Multiple-Input Multiple-Output, is a pillar technique for new generation mobile networks, i.e., for the mobile networks in direction of 5G. Its crucial properties of robustness against fading and Inter-symbol Interference make it a great choice for the demanding data rates of future mobile networks. This paper presents a technique for additional...
