Research into the security of the Internet of things is increasingly attracting the attention of the scientific community. This study examines three key security requirements, with an emphasis on Internet systems of things: authentication, privacy and access control. Attention is focused on security issues that have not been resolved to date, and also addresses the problems and future trends in the...
Building secure networks is one of the most important tasks of information security. The paper describes the main technologies of dynamic networks and technologies for secure communication in them. Also this paper reviews and compares the system developed by the authors for the secure exchange of data in dynamic networks using encryption with data technology.
The Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) is one of the most popular Instant Messaging (IM) protocols which uses a client-server working mode. This protocol uses different connection primitives for both client-to-server (c2s) and server-to-server (s2s) connections. It is actively used in mission-critical operations where the reliability and security of communication systems is always imperative...
Wireless Sensor Networks present several advantages when compared to wired ones, among them, the low consumption and simplicity of installation. In some cases, energy consumption may be so low as to allow the use of energy harvesting techniques, as in the case of EnOcean protocol. In other networks, it is necessary to meet specific requirements, such as in industrial ones, where communication must...
In this paper, we revisit multi-party Diffie-Hellman key exchange (DHKE) protocols by using multi-linear mappings and Weil pairings over elliptic curves. We show how to construct a 4-linear Weil pairing and illustrate the approach by examples. Finally, we present several necessary conditions to find a distortion map for a 5-party DHKE protocol.
The article issue is the enterprise information protection within the internet of things concept. The aim of research is to develop arrangements set to ensure secure enterprise IPv6 network operating. The object of research is the enterprise IPv6 network. The subject of research is modern switching equipment as a tool to ensure network protection. The research task is to prioritize functioning of...
Recently, several protocols have been proposed to accomplish user authenticity with proper session key establishment in Global Mobility Network. Unfortunately, some of them still suffer from various security threats and high computational complexity. This article demonstrates a new enhanced two-factor authentication scheme for secure anonymous communication to mutually authenticate the communicating...
The trend towards the digitalization of our homes is motivated by the development of hardware and software platforms that have been researched in recent years. As in the Internet of Things, building a single, global platform that enables communication with a myriad of devices for home automation is virtually impossible. The platform proposed in this work deals, in isolation, with the problems in each...
Many-core architectures are similar to a computer network, where it is necessary to ensure the security during the execution of sensitive applications. This article discusses two security-related issues: the secure admission of applications and the prevention of resource sharing during their execution. The safe application admission is an open research subject for many-core systems. Although several...
We investigate the possibility of covert and secret key generation over a discrete memoryless channel model with one way public discussion. Protocols are required to conceal not only the key but also whether a protocol is being implemented. For some models, we show that covert secret key generation is possible and characterize the covert secret key capacity in special cases; in particular, the covert...
Large numbers of Internet of Things (IoT) devices are increasingly deployed in many aspects of modern life. Given their limited resources and computational power, verifying program integrity in such devices is a challenging issue. In this paper, we design MTRA, a Multiple-Tier Remote Attestation protocol, by exploiting differences in resources and computational power among various types of networked...
Some enterprises would place their core business system in the enterprise network and cut off the connection with the external network, in order to prevent network attacks from outside. Enterprises often need to move business data from the external network to the enterprise network. There will be needs of across-network transmission. In this paper, a one-way transmission technology in network isolation...
Quantum key distribution (QKD) enables two authenticated parties to share secret keys with the ability to detect any attempts to eavesdrop the keys theoretically. Currently, QKD systems can be categorized by its source of uncertainty in nature; single photon or coherent light. As coherent light is harnessed, the overall cost for composing systems drops in general. However, more elaborate post processing...
A unidirectional security gateway is a network system in which data can travel in only one direction. Therefore, the system are used in protecting the safety and reliability of various critical infrastructures. Most of all, it has to be deployed with send and receive transceivers disconnected for one direction to ensure information security. In this paper, we introduce a unidirectional security gateway...
Mobile tactical networks (MTNs) in military communications extend the capabilities of mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). The MTNs are dynamic, infrastructureless, self-forming and self-healing systems designed for non-line-of-sight (NLOS) operations using multi-hop relaying. Unlike their commercial counterparts, MTNs have to offer much higher levels of security, jamming resistance, and service robustness...
Physical layer security is becoming a promising technology to face the security challenges of diversified and rapidly-growing wireless applications. In this paper, we propose a three-hop secure Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission protocol for the wireless networks with untrusted relays. In the proposed protocol, instead of exploiting the degree of freedom over spatial domain...
The IoT is a technology that enables the inter-connection of smart physical and virtual objects and provides advanced services. Objects or things are generally constrained devices which are limited by their energy, computing and storage capacity. A Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a network composed of devices managed by a CPAN (Personal Area Network Coordinator). The network is used in order to...
Internet of Things (IoT) is slowly but steadily becoming part of different aspects of our lives, with its applications ranging from smart homes, to wearable devices, to healthcare, etc. This wide spectrum of applications results in shared data containing large amount of users' private information. The security of such information becomes a paramount concern. The IoT security requirements include data...
We study the secure storage of the output of a data source on a public database. We consider a rather large class of data sources. In order to prevent unauthorized users from learning the output of the data source we make use of the output of a biometric source or a physical unclonable function (PUF). As we regard the output of the PUF source as a resource, we are interested in the smallest possible...
Over the past decade, fast technological and industrial advances have been happening in the area of autonomous Systems of Systems (SoS). A SoS is built upon integration of several systems, where the complexity of such a structure is exponentially higher which brings challenges to its analysis. However, it also has provided a large set of new opportunities in domains such as air traffic control, defense,...
