Current Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) examine all data features to detect intrusion or misuse patterns. Some of the features may be redundant or contribute little (if anything) to the detection process. The purpose of this research is to identify important input features in building an IDS that is computationally efficient and effective. This paper propose a novel matrix factorization approach...
The Internet provides an immense source of data. Its ubiquity, general availability and ease of use make it potentially an ultimate tool to search for information. However, the availability of data does not directly imply the availability of information. Web search engines, sophisticated tools designed to retrieve information from the Internet, could be rather unsatisfactory when dealing with todays...
In this paper, we compare performance of several dimension reduction techniques, namely SVD, NMF and SDD. The qualitative comparison is evaluated on a collection of bars. We compare the quality of these methods from on the base of the visual impact. We also compare dimension reduction techniques SVD and HO-SVD on tensors - 3D bars.
The wide spread use of computer networks in today's society, especially the sudden surge in importance of the World Wide Web, has made computer network security an international priority. Since it is not technically feasible to build a system with no vulnerabilities, intrusion detection (ID) has become an important area for researches. An intrusion that deviates only slightly from a pattern derived...
Turbo code interleaver optimization and linear ordering problem are two NP-hard optimization problems attractive for their complexity and variety of real world applications. In this paper, we investigate the usage and performance of recent variant of genetic algorithms - higher level chromosome genetic algorithms - on the turbo code optimization task and linear ordering problem. Both problems as well...
Linear Ordering Problem (LOP) is a well know optimization problem attractive for its complexity (it is a NP-hard problem), rich collection of testing data and variety of real world applications. In this paper, we investigate the usage and performance of two variants of Genetic Algorithms - Mutation Only Genetic Algorithms and Higher Level Chromosome Genetic Algorithms - on the Linear Ordering Problem...
Since the appearance in 1993, first approaching the Shannon limit, the turbo codes give a new direction for the channel encoding field, especially since they were adopted for multiple norms of telecommunications, such as deeper communication. To obtain an excellent performance it is necessary to design robust turbo code interleaver. We are investigating genetic algorithms as a promising optimization...

The requirements imposed on information retrieval systems are increasing steadily. The vast number of documents in today's large databases and especially on World Wide Web causes notable problems when searching for concrete information. It is difficult to find satisfactory information that accurately matches user information needs even if it is present in the database. One of the key elements when...

A progressive application of evolutionary computing to optimize Boolean search queries in crisp and fuzzy information retrieval systems was investigated, evaluated in laboratory environment and presented. Additionally, WebFusion - novel meta- search engine contributing to the effectiveness of web search has been presented. The system learns the expertness of every particular underlying standalone...
The amount and variety of information sources, especially on the World Wide Web (WWW), grows and the requirements imposed on search applications are increasing. Search service should provide the users with accurate, sensible responses to their requests. It is difficult to provide information that accurately matches user information needs. Search effectiveness can be seen as the accuracy of matching...

As the volume and variety of information sources continues to grow, especially on the World Wide Web (WWW), the requirements imposed on search applications are steadily increasing. The amount of available data is growing and so do user demands. Users do not need more information to deal with. Rather, they require that the information search process provides them with sensible responses to their requests...

Rapidly growing amount of data available on World Wide Web (WWW). Data as the ultimate collection of public accessible text documents complicates the task of acquiring usable and relevant information from raw data. Several of improvement methods and optimization in information retrieval (IR) systems (IRs) providing user interaction with WWW documents have been introduced and discussed. In this paper,...
Heart failure is known to be a complication of insulin-dependent (IDDM) and noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) even in the absence of coronary heart disease or hypertension. The mechanisms leading to diabetic cardiomyopathy are unknown. The aim of the study was to characterize structural and functional alterations in hyperinsulinemic Zucker diabetic fatty (ZDF) rats treated with or without...
The aim of study is to investigate the development of the anal canal in human embryos and foetuses. In embryos at stage 19 the boundary between the ectodermal and endodermal linings of the anal canal is located just below the level of the internal anal sphincter muscle. Histological sections showed that the first signs of anal columns are observed in embryos at stage 21 (51 days).
