Background In varied educational settings, narrative evaluations have revealed systematic and deleterious differences in language describing women and those underrepresented in their fields. In medicine, limited qualitative studies show differences in narrative language by gender and under-represented minority (URM) status. Objective To identify and enumerate text descriptors in a database of medical...
We fabricate silicon nanowire solar cells which, other than the texturing step, are processed by conventional silicon solar cell manufacturing equipment. The nanowires reduce reflection compared to standard multicrystalline cells, leading to higher short-circuit current. A less anticipated benefit is that the nanowires can also increase open-circuit voltage and fill factor. Compared to standard multicrystalline...
We report synthesis windows for growth of millimeter-long ZnTe nanoribbons and ZnSe nanowires using vapor transport. By tuning the local conditions at the growth substrate, high aspect ratio nanostructures can be synthesized. A Cu-ion immersion doping method was applied, producing strongly p-type conduction in ZnTe and ionic conduction in ZnSe. These extreme aspect ratio wide-bandgap semiconductors...
