In this research, real-time intrapulse modulation extraction implementation on FPGA in electronic support systems is presented. In radar systems, intrapulse modulation methods are used to detect the targets at low SNR values and increase the range resolution of radar. In electronic support systems, performance of radar identification is increased by using modulation on pulse extraction. In this work,...
Cardiovascular diseases in the world are the most common cause of death. Our study aims to predict the rate of heart attack risk for individuals using the Bagging Method, an ensemble Machine Learning classification algorithm. For this reason, a questionnaire has been prepared to collect the relevant data. After obtaining the official permissions, the questionnaires are applied to the patients who...
In many human computer interaction experiments eye tracker camera and web camera audio and video data are collected at the same time while a participant watches a certain video. When it is necessary to identify the actions of the participant during the experiment (using the video) it is necessary to align the web camera and eye tracker camera data. Most studies, require comparison of behaviour of...
Physioterapy is a long period that becomes a part of the life of people who need it. Today, the new touchless sensors have positive influence on the comfort of the rehabilitation and healing period. In addition, with the virtual/augmented reality technology, these processes are expected to be relatively more advanced. This study presents a novel physiotherapy system that increases the interaction...
Reading text is one of the crucial needs of the visually impaired people. In this work, we developed a mobile system (Mobile Reader) that can read aloud Turkish scene and book text. Images acquired from the camera are processed in realtime to detect text regions, recognize the text and synthesize speech in Turkish. A fast gradient-based text detection algorithm is employed to enable real-time operation,...
The final step of the bearing production line constitutes the inspection of the bearing which is mostly performed by visual inspection. Three groups of bearings namely, properly assembled samples, conversely assembled rubber seal and samples where rubber seals were missing are classified using visible range images of these samples. According to the proposed method, extraction of seal regions from...
Swallowing action is one of the two fundamental elements of food intake mechanism. Classification of different swallowing patterns establishes an important part of the nutrient activity analysis. This paper is a preliminary research that investigates ingestion monitoring. We observe that throat microphone recordings can reveal certain characteristics of different swallowing types during food intake...
Any multi-camera system requires placement decisions for its cameras to achieve the best system performance. Automated planning algorithms attempt to find the best placement and orientation of the cameras. We propose an optimization based approach maximizing the combined visible volume in the scene. Calculating the visible volume is a computationaly intensive process. We use GPU's to make it practical...
In this paper, a new system is proposed for the measurement of high angular rates using low-quality MEMS gyroscope and digital magnetometer. In this proposed system, angular rates are calculated by using calibrated magnetometer outputs and these calculated angular rates are combined with the outputs of low-quality MEMS gyroscope. Adaptive Kalman filtering technique is applied for this data fussion...
Today connectivity is a key enabler behind the concepts such as machine-to-machine communications and internet of things. In a near future, from the simplest to the most complicated all the devices will be connected, therefore it is necessary to define an horizontal common service layer for the interoperability and to diminish the barriers between vertical markets. In this perspective an initiative...
Nodule detection in chest radiographs is a main component of current Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems. The problem is usually approached as a supervised classification task of candidate nodule segments. To this end, a discriminative model is learnt from predefined set of features. A key concern with this approach is the fact that some normal tissues are also imaged and these regions can overlap...
Modern radar warning receivers form the clusters by processing the incoming pulses using multiple parameter deinterleaving. Validation and identification of formed sequences obtained from formed clusters are made by time-of-arrival (TOA) deinterleaving. Especially, validation and identification of the sequences utilizing as minimum number of pulses as possible are of utmost importance. The improved...
Over-the horizon wireless communications within the HF-band is subject to the Faraday effect where the polarization of electromagnetic waves rotates due to the ionization and geomagnetic interactions. This results in further signal loss and fading in addition to the usual multi path propagation fading. In this work, based on the standard Watterson HF channel model, a new HF-MIMO fading channel model...
Eyes, which is one of the most significant sense organs, could loose its functionality depending on the environment and growing age. In this study, a method for Optic Dist detection that is one of the first steps in diognising eye diseases and that plays and important role in early diagnosis of many eye diseases have been developed. In this study the red channel is used to eliminate blood vessels...
Hyperspectral imaging in gas detection applications is a leading and widely studied research topic thanks to its high spectral resolution and remote detection ability. The main problems in these applications covers the leakage detection, gas identification, and quantification. The proposed algorithm aims to reach the transmittance and absorbance features of the gas and to detect the gaseous region...
In this study, we have carried out a brain-computer interface study that uses time delays between electrodes. As features, we have calculated the time delays that maximizes the absolute value of the cross-covariance between the chosen reference channel and the remaining channels. Performance results of 3 out of 5 participants that were nearly at a %100 accuracy level along with a relatively smaller...
Thanks to the proliferation of internet, a lot of data are produced by both websites and personal users. The documents are required to be classified in terms of their content in order to reach the necessary information fast and correctly from produced data. One of the biggest difficulties in document classification systems is detection of attribute that represent the classes in best way. In this research,...
A novel frequency domain channel equalizer, inspired by [1], based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT) based OFDM has been proposed to improve the frequency domain channel equalizer employed OFDM systems in this paper. In this study, the performance of DWT based OFDM frequency domain channel equalizer (DWT-OFDM-FDE) has been compared with the conventional FFT based OFDM (FFT-OFDM-FDE) systems. Computer...
In this work, we develop a video surveillance system to detect the disappearance of the objects selected by an operator. Proposed method is optimized to minimize the effects of shadows, partial occlusions and changes in illumination to minimize false alarms. The system is trained by extracting local features from the object to produce an alarm in the case of the disappearance.
