The performances of the proposed decision-aided maximum likelihood (DA ML) and maximum likelihood sequence detection (MLSD) algorithms are investigated in this paper. It is shown that MLSD significantly improves laser linewidth tolerance. 100 Gb/s DP-QPSK experiments are carried out to verify our results.
This paper on the. Net platform three layer architecture of online bookstore system design process were research and exploration, and the second layer architecture comparison of advantages and disadvantages. Three layer architecture thought take the strategy of "divide and conquer", the separation of system design key points of each to a separate layer implementation, and through mutual...
We demonstrate an incoherent light source based on a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier as pump for high power supercontinuum generation. The obtained power level is about 160 mW and 20-dB spectral bandwidth is around 170 nm.
In this paper, the principle of frequency upconversion without any radio frequency (RF) local oscillator (LO) for radio over fiber (RoF) system is described from both the conventional and novel perspectives. Under conventional optical injection locking (OIL) theory, the frequency upconversion is achieved when the slave laser (SL) after redshift is locked by one of the frequency components in the sideband...
This paper describes a design of linear phase band-pass FIR digital differentiators with flat passband and Lp (1 ≤ p ≤ ∞) norm-based stopband characteristics. The transfer function consists of a passband function and a stopband function. The passband function guarantees the flat differential characteristics around an arbitrary center frequency. In addition, the maximally flat differentiators provide...
In this paper we propose a greedy probabilistic approach for localization in Wireless Sensors Network (WSN). This topic has received much attention since the WSN are considered as the basis in the emerging area of Internet of Things (IoT). The proposed method aims at increasing the performance of the grid based Compressed Sensing (CS) localization algorithm. This latter is based on the sparse nature...
In this paper, we investigate the throughput maximizing problem for a classic three-node relay communication system with a receive-and-forward relay node, which is able to harvest energy from the nature using a rechargeable battery. Besides of the energy consumption for reforwarding the received data, the energy for receiving data at the relay node is also considered. The objective is to maximize...
Attenuation mitigation technologies has become more important in the higher frequency satellite communication in order to reduce the natural effect which is the most influential factor. The coming one is an adaptive satellite power control method. This method can be used in the specific areas where got an unstable signal especially the tropical areas, the crowded areas or even for disaster cases....
We explore the possibility of utilizing 1.55-μm directly modulated vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) for the use in optical access networks. For this purpose, we experimentally investigate the transmission performance of high-speed (10∼25 Gb/s) on-off keying (OOK) and 4-ary pulse amplitude modulation (PAM4) signals generated by using a 1.55-μm directly modulated VCSEL over standard...
This article discusses the detection problem of a passive multistatic radar system with a non-cooperative illuminator of opportunity in the presence of compensation errors. Two detectors are used to address this detection problem according to whether the noise powers in the receivers are equal or not. Both of them have a constant false alarm rate with respect to the noise power. Numerical examples...
This paper proposes to extend the bandwidth of speech acquired by a system combining laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) and an auxiliary microphone in adverse environments, where this system is referred to as LDV-AM. Traditional bandwidth extension (BWE) algorithms often need two stages to estimate the broadband spectral envelope. In the first stage, the codebook of the broadband spectral envelope is...
Skin surface topography and wrinkles are important biophysical features in both dermatological and cosmeceutical practice and research. Current skin surface topography evaluation techniques, such as replica-based methods, have limitations which may result in errors and inaccurate measurement. High-Definition Optical Coherence Tomography (HD-OCT) is a recently-developed non-invasive skin imaging modality...
In this paper, we explore the effects of noisy sounds (i.e. auditory stressor) on human stress using electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. The noisy sounds utilized in this study include: sound of car horn, children crying, siren, drilling and from a construction site. Essentially, the ECG signals are represented by eight heart rate variability features which are commonly utilized in human stress related...
In this paper, we propose a new framework, namely hybrid classifiers ensemble with random undersampling for liver tumor segmentation. Essentially, the proposed framework is working on computed tomography images in which each pixel is represented by a rich feature vector. To handle the class imbalance problem, those pixels which correspond to non-tumor region are randomly subsampled. Outcomes of three...
It is common that spherical scatterers are used to represent air bubbles or brine inclusions embedded in the snow or sea ice layer. This physical configuration is then solved using radiative transfer theory to obtain backscattering coefficient from the snow or sea ice layer. With the advent of new techniques in computational electromagnetics, the typical theoretical model of single layer of snow or...
In this paper, we propose a frequency coding waveform with a nonlinear frequency modulation (NLFM) signal for the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar. The transmitted signal of each transmitting antenna is a pulse train, of which, the sub-pulses are NLFM signals with different carrier frequencies. The frequency sequence and the parameter of the nonlinear frequency function are optimized to...
This paper presents multiple snapshot spatial smoothing with improved aperture (MS-SSIA) for high-resolution direction of arrival (DOA) estimation by uniform linear array (ULA). Spatial smoothing preprocessing (SSP) is often used for DOA estimation of correlated sources, but it reduces the effective array aperture and leads to low DOA estimation accuracy. SSIA is a method that solves this SSP problem;...
Recently, multidimensional scaling (MDS) algorithms have been verified to be robust for the emitter localization. However, the traditional MDS algorithms are based on single one kind of measurement. In this paper, a novel hybrid MDS localization algorithm based on both angle-of-arrival (AOA) and time-of-arrival (TOA) measurements is proposed. In the condition that one of the sensors can obtain the...
802.11p inter-vehicle communications is attracting growing research attentions. Most of previous works focused on studying the broadcasting performance, whereas the unicast performance is seldom addressed. Furthermore, most of conventional studies fail to consider a realistic vehicular traffic distribution. In view of this inadequacy, this paper proposes an 802.11p unicast modeling methodology under...
Considering the limitation of hardware requirement and power dissipation in wearable brain-computer interface(BCI), the electroencephalogram(EEG) data compression implemented by independent component analysis (ICA) combined with compressed sensing (CS) is proposed in this paper. A simple and effective ICA spatial filtering method is used to obtain motor related independent components (MRICs). Furthermore,...
