An approach to model the drying mechanical effects occurring in a single sphere, representing a food model, is proposed. The mechanical properties were evaluated through compression tests and drying kinetics data were obtained under a laminar fluid flow. The Fickian model was used to represent the moisture content profiles and the mechanical model was formulated from elasticity theory. Deformations...
One of the main challenges of the Brazilian Government for the next 10 years will be the banking inclusion of the poorest portion of the population, which has a monthly family income of less than $200 Dollars. Only 25% of the economically active population have a bank account and 15% are digitally included. On the other hand more than 90% of Brazilian people have a TV, and only 12% are connected to...
We have identified a novel human gene related to the class 6 semaphorin family of axon guidance molecules, termed human semaphorin 6B or (HSA)SEMA6B. Two splicing variants of this gene were identified by RT-PCR: (HSA)SEMA6B.1 (short isoform) and (HSA)SEMA6B.2 (longer isoform). Computational analysis suggests that these isoforms correspond to putative secreted and transmembranous semaphorins, respectively...
We have identified a new splicing variant of the gene “novel amplified in breast cancer 1,” NABC1 (HGMW-approved symbol BCAS1). This variant, which we call NABC15B, uses a previously unidentified 135-bp exon. Also in this report, we confirm that NABC1 is overexpressed in breast tumors and show that both NABC1 and NABC15B are downregulated in colorectal tumors.
